The Hollywood Reporter (THR) writes that:

Minka Kelly is going to Washington.

The “Friday Night Lights” star has been tapped as the lead of the CW’s drama pilot “Body Politic.”

She is joined by an alum from another critically praised but low-rated series, “Veronica Mars’ ” Jason Dohring, who has also been cast in the pilot.

“Body Politic,” from CBS Par, is a look at Washington politics through the eyes of optimistic up-and-coming staffers.

Kelly will play Hope, an all-American girl who leaves her life in Michigan after the death of her mother and heads to D.C., where her long-lost dad, Sen. Webster (Tim Matheson), has just been appointed Attorney General, and takes a job on his staff.

Dohring will play a reporter with the Washington Post.

For the “FNL” fans whose hearts started racing, Kelly’s new gig is not an sign that “FNL” is not coming back. Negotiations between NBC and DirecTV are still going on, and insiders are optimistic that the show will return for a fourth season.

But given the fact that Kelly’s character on the show, Lyla, graduated from high school this season and is off to college, she is not going to be a regular next season but will return for a multiepisode arc if “FNL” clinches a fourth-season pickup.

The series’ producers used a similar tactic for Gaius Charles and Scott Porter, regulars on the first two seasons, who were brought back for four episodes each this season to wrap up their characters’ stories post-high school.

Congrats to Minka! I hope her new show does well, I just think her addition to Melrose Place would have been better.

Michael Ausiello of Ausiello Files & Entertainment Weekly reports:

It’s not quite a touchdown yet, but at least they’re near the end zone.

Sources confirm to me exclusively that NBC is engaged in active talks with DirecTV to extend their unique shared-window experiment with Friday Night Lights. But there’s a catch — and it’s a good one. According to an insider close to the negotiations, DTV and NBC might only seal the deal if they can get – holy Connie Britton Taylor! — a two-season pickup.

Though a spokesperson for NBC Universal declined to comment, a Peacock insider acknowledges that the studio is “actively looking at ways to keep FNL going.” Another NBC source adds, “We’re very optimistic a deal will be worked out.”

The one possible complication? The show’s behind-the-scenes quarterback, Jason Katims, is attached to NBC’s buzzy Parenthood pilot. If it’s picked up, he would either do double duty or be forced to make a choice. Similarly, the show’s go-to director, Jeffrey Reiner, is helming NBC’s Trauma pilot. FNL might be able to carry on without one of its MVPs, but both? Hmm…

But maybe it’s too soon to be wringing our hands over changes to the lineup. Once we have a pickup under our belt, then we can worry about such things. And while we wait for the official word, let’s show NBC and DirecTV what a wise decision they would be making by keeping FNL alive by sounding off below.

The always stunning Minka Kelly will soon grace the cover of Health Magazine and People has a little of the inside scoop on what you’ll see on the pages.

Minka Kelly admits she never saw herself as a typical Hollywood sylph – even in her earlier modeling days.

“I never really took the idea of me being a model seriously, because I never thought that I had the body for it,” the star of NBC’s Friday Night Lights tells the March issue of Health, on newsstands Tuesday. “I’m five-feet-five, and I have a bubble butt and pretty big thighs. So I learned quickly just to be happy with what I’ve got.”

The actress, 28, likes to run to keep in shape and says with a laugh, “If I didn’t work out as hard as I do, I’d be really thick. That’s also hard, because I love to eat. But it’s about wanting to take care of myself, as opposed to wanting to look a certain way. I don’t really ever stand on a scale”

Not one to deny herself, she admits, “I’m a dessert freak. I looove peach cobbler. So how does she recommend mixing fitness with indulgence? “Have a cheat day – Whoo! Sunday’s ‘Cheat Day.’ I’m gonna have my peach cobbler! – then it’s exciting, and you really enjoy it.”

As for Hollywood stars getting Botox in their twenties, she says, “Whatever you have to do to make yourself happy, then I’m all for it. I’m personally afraid to do it at my age, but that’s not to say that when my boobs are down to my knees that I won’t go and get them fixed up.”

She’s not as forthcoming, however, about Derek Jeter, with whom she’s been linked romantically. When asked about the handsome Yankee, Kelly says: “I have lots of great friends, and I’m very happy. I’d just like to keep it at that!” [Source]

There will be a delay in gallery uploads for about 2 days.  I work primarily off of my laptop in adding everything from news to pictures and right now my power cord is not functioning properly so I had to call my computer store and they’re sending me out a new one which should arrive by Wed./Thurs.  and once I get it updates will resume.

Minka is in NYC and she attended the Miss Sixty Fashion Show and looked gorgeous – I’ll add the photos when I’m able to.
